Anything But Books Tag

Anything But Books Tag

The lovely Siobhan @ Novelties tagged me earlier this month to participate in the Anything But Books Tag! This is the first “get to know me” tag I’ve done on this blog, and it was a lot of fun — so thanks a bunch, Siobhan 🙂 If we share any interests below, be sure to let me know 😀 I love to chat about all the things, not just books ^_^

The Questions

Name a cartoon that you love.

Avatar: The LastAirbender, hands down, is one of the best television shows in history, cartoon or not. It’s so much more than a children’s show. The plot, the characters, the themes, the world-building … yep, I think I just convinced myself I’m overdue for a rewatch.

What is your favorite song right now?

I saw the musical Waitress several weeks ago, and I don’t think I’ve actually listened to anything but the soundtrack since? She Used to Be Mine still gives me chills, even if I’ve probably listened to it a couple hundred times now … and watched pretty much every live variation available on YouTube. Zero shame.

What could you do for hours that isn’t reading?

I’m a gym junkie 🙂 There’s nothing I find more therapeutic than working out. I’m addicted to the endorphin rush and the challenge of always trying to compete with my own personal bests. I’ll honestly try anything that’s physically challenging, but for my go-to’s: I love spin classes, I’m trying to develop a greater appreciation for yoga, and my main passion is …

What is something that you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

I’m an amateur Thai boxer! Muay Thai (also known as the art of eight limbs since you can strike with your hands, feet, elbows, and knees) has been an integral part of my life for the past four years. I spent six weeks training in Thailand last summer, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

What is your favorite, unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?

Mechanical keyboards are something I’m developing a growing interest in. It’s almost a hobby at work to have overly customized keyboards, and I’ve learned a lot about what goes into making them – from the switches under the keys to the way the keycaps are printed. It’s a dorky interest, and I know almost nothing compared to most of my coworkers, but honestly, I feel ten times more productive on a loud and clicky keyboard, and it’s been fun to learn about them!

What is something unusual you know how to do?

I can do really intricate designs with nail polish, as I discovered in college when I desperately wanted to procrastinate. I’ve been known to paint my nails as the Minions from Despicable Me, a royal flush card hand, mini Frankenstein monsters, and plenty of other random things when I get bored.

Name something that you’ve made in the last year.

So much Thai food! The bug bit me when I stayed in Thailand last summer, and I even took a cooking course while I was there. My favorite dishes to make have been Tom Kha Gai, Tom Yum Goong, Pad See Ew, and Massaman Curry!

What is your most recent personal project?

I really, really want to get more consistent with bullet journaling. I started while training for a fight because it was an excellent way to keep track of my routines and have an easy visualization of what was and wasn’t working … but it was hard for me to stay on top of it. So it’s a personal project I recently tried … kinda failed … and now I’m trying to bring back!

Tell us something that you think of often.

Welp, so I read way too much fanfiction, and there’s plenty of WIPs that haunt my thoughts on a pretty much daily basis?

Tell us something that’s your favorite, but make it oddly specific.

I love watching movies in crowded theaters because there’s just this at-one feeling with the crowd and their reactions. Some of my favorite memories have been seeing Pitch Perfect, Captain America: Civil War, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2) in theaters where every seat is filled, and I’ll always remember the moments where there were collective gasps or cheers or laughs.

So, do we have anything in common? This was such a fun tag to do – thanks again, Siobhan!

I’m passing along the love by tagging …

  1. Aurora @ Aurora Librialis
  2. Jasmine @ Jasmine’s Reading
  3. Monica @ Torn Pages & Roses
  4. LaRonda @ Flying Paperbacks
  5. Nicole @ Book Admirer

Only jump on if you’d like to, of course, but I’m so interested in learning more about all of you! So it should go without saying that if you feel inspired to tackle these questions, consider yourself tagged to answer these questions, too. Hope everyone has a lovely day!

    1. I’m more of a … once every three months I’ll decide it’s time to plot out some crazy design. Which is fun! But I’m also jealous of people who just constantly have stellar nails haha!
