Hello and welcome!
The Traveling Inkwell is a blog dedicated to all things books, with a variety of other shenanigans sprinkled in between. I have a deep-rooted love for anything suspense and thrill, but you’ll also find plenty of forays into other genres, like fantasy, YA, and general fiction. Stay tuned, ’cause I’ll be sharing new reviews and recommendations every week.
My name is Kaila, and I’m a bibliophile with a love of traveling and adventure. When I’m not buried in a book, you’ll find me at work as a software engineer or training as an amateur Muay Thai fighter … no dull moments here!
Reading has always been an integral part of my life, from the time when I would pick books at random off the Teen shelves in the library and curl up on the couch for hours on end. After a lengthy YA reading slump and subsequent transition to adult fiction, my tastes got pickier, and I discovered what a phenomenal online community exists for people who love reading just as much as me. I started this blog to get more involved in that community, and I’m looking forward to interacting with you!

For the curious, here’s a brief overview of my five-star rating system (I round down on platforms that don’t support half-star ratings):
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved it! This is a book that really floored me with its approach, and I’d recommend it to absolutely anyone.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really liked it! The story resonated with me, and if it sounds up your alley, too, give it a shot for sure.
⭐⭐⭐ I liked it/it was okay. The half star here is what usually differentiates the two. This is a book that I enjoyed – but with qualifications.
⭐⭐ I didn’t like it. I never really connected with the characters or plot and probably skimmed my way through a handful of parts.
⭐ I really didn’t like it. There was something truly problematic about this read to me, and I had to drag my feet to finish.
