throwback thursdays
Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme created by Renee @ It’s Book Talk. This meme lets you share old favorites published over a year ago or books that you just never got to! My list of those is miles long. If you’re interested in participating, too, check out her post this week!

This Week’s Pick

18045891Title: Sharp Objects

Author: Gillian Flynn

Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Fiction

Publication Year: 2006

Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family’s Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story—and survive this homecoming.

I am absolutely ashamed to say that I haven’t read any of Gillian Flynn’s novels yet! The premise of Gone Girl just never reeled me in when it was the center of all the hype. This novel and another of hers, Dark Places, have come on my radar recently after numerous friends have been horrified I subconsciously wrote Flynn off completely after dismissing Gone Girl. And I have to admit, this plot sounds deliciously up my alley, so they’re probably in the right!

What are your thoughts on this book or any others by Gillian Flynn? Has there every been a book or author you’ve written off and then completely regretted?

  1. I’m not one to read books when they are hyped up but Gone Girl was definitely a good one. A lot of twists, one of which caused me to do a flip off my bed and scream aloud, lol. Dark Places was also good. I can’t wait to read Sharp Objects
